As a hair stylist, René Furterer was disturbed by the damage to clients’ hair and scalp caused by bleaching, color treatments, perms, and styling with heat.

Furterer drew on his familiarity with the therapeutic and aromatic properties of plants and essential oils gleaned from his childhood in Provence to develop a hair and scalp protocol.

In 1979, Furterer joined forces with Laboratoires Pierre Fabre, specializing in phyto-cosmetology.
